I
attended a performance by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra
of Berliozs Messe Solennelle. With a little more fine-tuning,
Singapores new concert hall has the potential to rank
among the worlds finest. Regardless of where one sits,
the sound is full and omni-directional, completely filling
the air space defined by the walls and ceiling. There is an
almost visceral quality to the sound, a sense of aura that
one gets in the great halls of Boston, Vienna and Bayreuth.
Colors blend well without losing their distinctiveness.
