The Samueli Theater is housed in a new Segerstrom Center for the Arts. The stand alone building also houses The Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, a music library, two large orchestra chambers for rehearsals, eight individual rehearsal rooms, and fifteen dressing rooms, in order to accommodate and attract world-class performers to OCPAC. The concert hall opened on September 15th 2006.
The Samueli Theater is an intimate, flexible, 500-seat space which accommodates a wide variety of small to medium sized performance types. The theater is a rectangular, flat-floored room with an upper gallery on three sides for additional audience seating or technical use.
With moveable seating and staging platforms, the room can be configured in any number of ways including traditional theater style, theater in the round, or cabaret style seating with cocktail tables.
A pipe grid that spans the entire ceiling of the room allows flexible positioning of lighting, audio, and small scenic or decorative units. Acoustic draperies at the gallery level provide acoustic flexibility.
