The Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert
Hall is housed in a new Segerstrom Center for the Arts. The stand
alone building also houses a music library, two large orchestra
chambers for rehearsals, eight individual rehearsal rooms, and fifteen
dressing rooms, in order to accommodate and attract world-class
performers to OCPAC. The concert hall opened on September 15th 2006.
Segerstrom Concert Hall accommodates up to 2,000
audience members. The "shoebox"-shaped hall features three,
silver-leafed, acoustical canopies that form a shimmering ceiling,
reflecting both the performers and audience below. The room is equipped
with acoustics control chambers, which, in conjunction with adjustable canopies,
create ideal performance conditions for large symphony orchestras,
chamber ensembles, chorales and solo instrumentalists and vocalists.
Adjustable acoustic curtains and banners bring additional flexibility
to the acoustical capabilities of Segerstrom Hall. An adjustable
orchestra pit has the potential use of additional seating,
or extra stage space. Removable chorus wagons can be positioned
on stage, or removed, with the help of workhorse lifts. Additional
equipment include a piano lift and a house mix position.
Segerstrom Concert Hall is the new home to Orange
County's Pacific Symphony, the Philharmonic
Society of Orange County, and the Pacific
Chorale.
