even more impressed than at the gala opening recital last
Monday. What a sound: clear, resonant, and vividly colored
from top to bottom. If I hadn't had eyes to count them myself,
I wouldn't have believed that the rich, chest-warming bass
tone of the St. Luke's strings was emanating from just four
contrabasses and five cellos.”
