Lars's
Projects Experience
Stephen Lars Klein brings to Artec a diverse background in theatre
construction and production.
Mr. Klein has worked in many capacities at regional
theaters, summer-stock companies, and childrens theatres.
These have included lighting designer, sound designer, technical
director, production supervisor, master carpenter, master electrician,
rigger, and stage manager. A partial list of his previous affiliations
includes: Seattle Repertory Theatre, Seattle, Washington; Cumberland
County Playhouse, Crossville, Tennessee; Smothers Theatre, Malibu,
California; and the Yale Repertory Theatre, New Haven, Connecticut.
Prior to joining Artec, Mr. Klein worked as a project manager and
rigging systems designer for Pook, Diemont & Ohl, Inc., a theatrical
equipment contractor and installer. While there, he worked on such
projects as the Kodak Theatre, Hollywood, California; TV studios
for NY1, CNN, and NBC; as well as numerous college and high school
performance spaces.
Mr. Klein holds a Master of Fine Arts degree
in Technical Design and Production from the Yale School of Drama.
At Yale, his curriculum included theatre systems engineering, structural
design for the stage, architectural acoustics, theatre architecture,
and show control system design and implementation. His Bachelor
of Arts degree in Theatre, concentration in technical theatre, is
from Pepperdine University, Malibu, California. While a student,
he was the technical director of the universitys show at the
Edinburgh Festival, Scotland.
