Artec Family of Halls 2011 New York meeting

The fourth annual meeting of the Artec Family of Halls group took place on January 10th, 2011 at The Hauser Patron Salon at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York. Representatives of Artec-designed halls from around the world, including facilities already in use, to those in design or construction, came together to spend half a day learning about each other and to share experiences and valuable insight with the group.

The 2011 session kicked off with a presentation by Thorunn Sigurdardottir, Chairman of the Board of AGO, the operating company of Harpa - Reykjavík Concert Hall and Conference Centre in Reykjavik (Iceland). Thorunn discussed the highly anticipated opening of Harpa in May of this year. Thorunn’s detailed presentation on the preparation and schedule for the opening together with the discussions that followed, provided beneficial advice to those who are preparing to open a hall within the next few years.

András Csonka from the Palace of Arts in Budapest (Hungary) shared his experiences on the acclaimed and innovative opera performances he has been hosting in the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall.

The meeting concluded with a presentation from Daniel Moriaty of CSO architects, who provided the participants with a detailed insight on the economic and urban growth the City of Carmel, Indiana has received and is forecasted to receive as a direct result of The Center for the Performing Arts development.
